If you are one of the hardcore believers that gaming should strictly be on a play-to-win basis versus a “pay-to-win” dynamic, then the road to 6 limited time event is the right place for you. However, as stated, this is a limited time event that will only be lasting up until mid February. Allowing all players in the game to access all operators on both the attacking and defending sides of each round. While this event only lasts a little over a month there is a plethora of new game play and opportunities within the world of Rainbow 6.
Starting off with a new map, “the Stadium” offers tight corners and long hallways attempting to reenact a realistic simulator for each player competing in the game. A map like this is unlike any other that Rainbow has yet to offer, with a new strategic equation being added to the mix. The bulletproof window allows a full view from the outside looking in and vice versa. Allowing each and every player on both sides of the glass to view the enemy’s position. Revealing and exposing certain parts of the map to players of the opposite side.
While this in theory is a great idea, it leaves one team a man down while the rest of his/her squadron pushes into the site to attempt to eliminate the enemy team. One will have to sacrifice him/herself to watch through the glass while making call-outs to his/her team in order to reveal and uncover the enemy teams position throughout the map. Moving away from the game play, and onto the cosmetic side of things, with this new event there comes a limited time battle pass. There is a free version that has significantly less rewarding cosmetics, and a paid version that has over 35 tiers and items that are unlock-able through in-game progression (i.e., winning games, doing well in a match, etc).
With all of this being taken into account, the most important reason and sole purpose of this event is to promote and bring awareness to the upcoming eSports tournament for the game. While also proving its player base and content creators with new and refreshing game play that they can enjoy for the time being.
